Teaching Philosophy
Mr.B believes the critical thinking skills, dedication and patience, that one develops by studying music, are attributes that transcend the classroom; music helps instill forethought, integrity and the understanding of achievement, that students can apply to almost every aspect of life. Many of his students earn high marks and have won State & Regional gold medals in the Royal Conservatory of Music's Music Development Program assessments.
“A typical guitar lesson with me is generally split between technique and reading music. After a good foundation is laid the student can then bring music of their choice to the lesson, which will be incorporated into the study of technique and overall musicianship. Music theory and songwriting are advanced topics that will be integrated with other lesson topics upon the student's request and readiness.”
Studying at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of music (CCM) provided Mr. B with a wealth of knowledge about the guitar. The degree requires the completion of a year long sequence of Guitar Pedagogy (the study of learning, ie. how students learn and how teachers educate). Whether you are interested in learning the basics, getting a handle on technique or taking a more serious look at articulation and phrasing, we think you will enjoy your lessons.
