Class One: Ages 13+
Ever wanted to act out your favorite scene from your favorite movie or show? Maybe you have wondered what it would feel like to be Queen Elizabeth or Hermione Granger – Thor or Darth Vader? Now is your chance! We will start each class with fun games to warm up our bodies and voices. We will use improv strategies to strengthen our quick-thinking skills, build teamwork and connection. Students will pick a monologue to rehearse throughout each class and at the end of the sessions, they will perform their monologue on stage. Age appropriate monologues will be available to choose from or the students can find or even write their own! There’s no better way to build confidence and have fun at the same time. Costumes and Set Pieces are welcome but not necessary for the final performance. Costumes and props will be available to use during class or students can bring their own. Whether you have dreams of being on the stage or simply want to have fun and put yourself in someone else’s shoes – you’ll have a great time building confidence, getting creative, exploring emotion, and more.
Class Two: Ages 9-12
Get creative and use your imagination while we explore the basics of acting. Each class will start with vocal and body warmups that include fun tongue twisters, rhythm games, and word association. We will incorporate music and dance as part of our games and warmups. We’ll use our imaginations and creativity to “swing like Spiderman” or “fly like the Wicked Witch.” The kids will choose from various scenes from Age Appropriate movies, plays, or books that will be provided. They can pair off into two’s or three’s (able to keep 6 ft apart) and work on the scene of their choosing together. The kids will work toward finalizing and preparing the scene for a final performance at the end of the sessions. Props and Costumes will be available to use/borrow during class time or kids can bring their own! This will be a great way to build confidence, use imagination, and most importantly, have fun!
Class Three: Ages 6-8
Have a blast exploring the concepts of storytelling and performing. Performing isn’t just for those who have dreams of being a movie star. We will focus on having fun with pretending. We will warm up our bodies and voices with fun tongue twisters and body movements – dancing, jumping, stretching, and more. The kids will rehearse the basics of performing – act like a butterfly, roar like a lion, or jump like a frog! We’ll explore emotions and imagination, implementing the concepts of storytelling with music as the instructor reads a story and the kids will act along. Throughout the sessions, we’ll focus on one specific story that the kids will perform on stage at the end of the sessions. Props and costumes available to use during class or the kids can also bring their own. Come explore with us!
