Community Outreach Programs

The Wyoming Fine Arts Center is committed to fostering appreciation and skills in the arts throughout the broader community. We have entered into several partnerships with schools and non-profit organizations to bring music and art education programs to children in underserved areas of the community.

Hartwell Elementary School, Cincinnati Public Schools

Nearly 100 students take part in this after-school arts integration program, enjoying instruction in art, choir, hip-hop dance, and music & movement taught by faculty from the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. Hartwell students can also take part in summer camps held at the Center and at Trinity Baptist Church. The program is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant.

 St. Vivian School, Cincinnati, Ohio

Our after-school strings method program at this K-8 school serves approximately one dozen students in two weekly classes. Students perform at school events, church masses, and year-end school functions.

Sunman-Dearborn Schools, Indiana

This after-school strings orchestra program was begun at the request of families in the district, and now serves about 15 students.

St. Louis School, Batesville, Indiana

This satellite program was started by a former faculty member who moved to this area. It currently serves about 15 families and their students.

The Touchstone Project

Founded in 2004, the Touchstone Project helps at-risk children achieve greater success in school through music instruction and performance. Started by The Wyoming Fine Arts Center, the Touchstone Project provides no-cost instruction in stringed instruments to children in elementary schools that are selected based on economic need.

For a child to be successful in school and in life, it takes an early start in developing intelligence, consistent work habits, and a joy for learning. The specialized musical instruction that the Touchstone Project provides has been proven to develop these positive characteristics in children—the characteristics that open doors to fulfilling dreams.
